PDF files removed from the upstream tarball, because these are large
and easily regenerated; in fact if we cannot regenerate them then the
package itself is broken.

The original upstream produced versions 1 through 4. Since then some
others have taken up the mantle, I chose the best and called it
version 5. But development isn't organized or systematic; if there's
ever a version 6 I'd imagine someone else will produce it.

People have produced a variant of this called LaTeX Wine Stains,
which just changes the colour.
 https://www.overleaf.com/latex/examples/latex-wine-stains/cdzqvdhxtgft
It would make sense to unify these into
 \usepackage[coffee]{beverage}
with package options for not just coffee and (red) wine, but
generalized to tea, and champagne for the final draft, and even
 \usepackage[chocolate,nicotine]{slob}
chocolate smears and cigarette burns.

There is a version in CTAN called coffeestains
 https://framagit.org/Pathe/coffeestains
which has translations of the documentation into several languages,
and significant updates to the actual code. It is included in
package texlive-pictures, so it probably makes sense to obsolete this
latex-coffee-stains package.
