Growl For Linux
===============

Introduction:
-------------

Growl For Linux is Linux-compatible of Growl. Growl is a notification system for Mac OS X. 

Installation:
-------------

Growl For Linux require following libraries.

* openssl
* libcurl
* gtk+-2.0
* sqlite3
* dbus-glib-1

If you are developer, then type following.

    # ./autogen.sh
    # ./configure
    # make && make install

If you are ubuntu user, then type following.

    # sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mattn/growl-for-linux
    # sudo apt-get update
    # sudo apt-get install growl-for-linux

Usage:
------

    # ./gol

Why "gol" ?, "gol" mean "Growl On Linux". (or ゴルア).
Currently, This is required.

Notification should be sent with [GNTP](http://www.growlforwindows.com/gfw/help/gntp.aspx) protocol or [Growl Network Protocol](http://growl.info/documentation/developer/protocol.php).
If you want to be show icon in notification, you need to use GNTP protocol.

FAQ:
----

  * Q. I can't see icon in system tray. I'm using ubuntu linux.
  * A. Try following.
  
    gsettings set com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist "$(gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Panel systray-whitelist | sed -e "s/]$/, 'growl-for-linux']/")"
