perl Makefile.PL
make
make test
make install

This will build the matio source as well as the pdl interface.

The makefile written by Makefile.PL has targets 'cleanall'
and 'distcleanall'.  These perform make clean and make
distclean in both module distribution toplevel and in
$matio_top_level.
