-- Installation and usage on X11

  Requirement: Perl5 or higher, X11R6

  1. Setup the pathname of sed, perl, gzip(compress), and X11.
     Modify variables SED_CMD, PERL_CMD, GZIP_CMD, X11BINDIR and X11FONTDIR
     in the Makefile.

NOTICE: For commercial UN*X systems such as Solaris, HP-UX,
you need to use compress for comressing pcf files
instead of gzip. See the comments in the Makefile.

  2. Make.
It takes 6-7 minutes on my system (Linux-2.2, PIII, 500MHz).
Just ignore warnings printed by jis2unicode during makeing.

  3. Make install.
In default, the fonts will be installed into /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local.

  4. (optional)
If you've installed Kappa and Elisa fonts, you can add
the content of fonts.alias.mona file into the end of fonts.alias
file in the destination directory. It allows to use other fonts
as a part of Mona Font. It's done automatically if you type
     make install-alias.

  5. Change the fontpath and restart xfs/Xserver.
You need to add the following pathname to *the end of* the fontpath:
	/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/local/:unscaled
Then restart xfs/Xserver, or type 'xset fp rehash'.
Now Mona Font is available on your machine.

     This step varies in systems.
So please consult the manuals about how to install new fonts.

NOTICE: Make sure to specify ":unscaled", otherwise
fonts are scaled unnecessarily. It looks ugly.

NOTICE: DON'T USE MONA FONT in Emacs or XTerm!
             They don't support proportional fonts!

  6. If you're using Mozilla, set the Japanese font used for
     page rendering to:
	mona-gothic-jisx0208.1990-0 (Sans Serif)
     and the font size to:
        16.0
Then set the Unicode font to:
	mona-gothic-iso10646-1 (Sans Serif)
     and the font size to:
        16.0

NOTICE: Almost all text arts are adjusted for 16.0 points.

  7. Go to BBS for text arts!
