#!N The routine creates a new Field or Group Object to 
hold the data that are to be imported. The  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   filename 
#!EF parameter is the name of a data file in netCDF 
format. The  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   variable #!EF parameter specifies a  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   NULL #!EF 
-terminated list of strings that identify the variables to be imported. 
If more than one is specified, the Objects are collected together 
and a Group is returned. #!N #!N For Series data,  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   
*start #!EF ,  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   *end #!EF , and  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   *delta #!EF 
are used to control which indexed Series members are read in. 
If  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   start #!EF is  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   NULL #!EF , it defaults 
to the beginning of the series; if  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   end #!EF is 
 #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   NULL #!EF , it defaults to the end of the 
series; if  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   delta #!EF is  #!F-adobe-times-bold-r-normal--18*   NULL #!EF , it
